Beaded Gourds

My main focus is on fully beading gourds. I have beaded several, ranging in size from 4 to 10 inches in diameter. Currently in the works are larger ones. It has taken many years to develop the skills necessary to accomplish this, from learning the art of braintanning the leather, to being able to manipulate the skin over the gourd for a perfect fit, like a second skin. Fortunately the old method of tanning creates the perfect canvas for my beadwork. After the skin is applied, I fully bead it by sewing the beads firmly to the leather. The result is a beautiful and functional piece of artwork.
