The Raven Rattle

Posted by on 2:25 am in Uncategorized | 0 comments

The Raven Rattle is a project that was actually started back in the early 1980’s when I first began to teach myself to carve some wood. It is now 2015, and its completion has finally arrived. The wood used for the rattle is cedar. The eyes of the raven and top mask are of abalone. The eyes of the owl mask, which is the other half of the rattle, are made of mineralized ivory. There is a key way in the handle portion that is also made of the mineralized ivory. The stand is made of black walnutwood with abalone and ivory inlay.
